KitchenAid Review

Oh…. KitchenAid. What can I say?  I love these guys. While I think there are appliance companies that appeal more to the cheffy chefs across America and abroad, I think KitchenAid is a solid, good appliance for even home chefs who want some bells and whistles with a price point that fits in your oven mitt. They like to be on the cutting edge with new features like the Steam Assist Convection ovens offered in 48″, 36″ and 30″ duel fuel ranges and wall ovens alike. Until recently Miele was the only brand that had (and in fact invented), the steam oven. Thermador has integrated this feature in their line but now KitchenAid, a more affordable line, has offered steam cooking in it’s full size ovens! They also have one of the first double oven ranges in the 36″ width. They stack them with the smaller oven on top. It is the perfect balance for those who need a second oven but either don’t have the space for a wall oven or a larger 48″ range.  By the way, their commercial style ranges have a decorative furniture style toe kick at the bottom. (see picture at left) Very Hansom!

Their dishwashers (the top of the line ones) have 3 racks: the bottom one of course, then an adjustable upper rack for glasses that can function in a tilted…. one side lowered….. fashion and a skinny top rack for utensils that also has an adjustable tray that can be used in two different ways. They are as quiet, I think, as the other “quiet” brands that come at a higher price. They have the double drawer dishwashers as well as a double drawer warming drawer!

For refrigeration, they have one of the only built in french door models…. if not the only one. It is 84″ tall, 24″ deep and 42″ wide. Wow! I love it. In the built in style (84″ tall and 24″ counter depth) they also have the side by side and over under (freezer on bottom with 1 door) models in varying widths. In the freestanding variety, they have the side by side, french door and over under as well which come in varying widths but are all the 70″ish height. Also in the freestanding deeper (usually) models they have a french door style that can be paneled to match your cabinets, a french door with 2 drawers below and…… a counter depth french door and side by side ! These have less cubic feet though because they are not the taller 84″ height like the built in counter depth units so be careful and check your current cubic ft. of storage to make sure you are not getting less storage space than your old avocado green unit from the 60″s.

KitchenAid has a bevy of under counter refrigerators as well. They have ice makers, fridge drawers, beverage centers, wine cellars, and reg. single door fridges …. all that can be paneled to match your cabinets!  This very affordable and cutting edge brand also has……. get ready……. kitchen ventilation hoods,  microwaves, induction cooktops and ranges, countertop ovens, outdoor kitchens with grills, burners fridges, rotisseries etc., trash compactors, disposers, bakeware, cookware, cutlery, blenders, coffee makers, food processors, slow cookers and….. the all mighty Stand Mixers that have been around since 1919! This sounds like too much to handle, but they only do kitchens and they do them well (you can pay me later).
