Well, previously I wrote about a “do-it-yourself” stick on under cabinet light by Sylvania. In the world of kitchen design, under cabinet lighting can be a simple, cool and relatively inexpensive treatment. However, with this particular product, I have since had some bad luck. The light source is very dim, even though it has 3 levels of light output, and is a pain to engage. It is motion sensored and you have to wave your hand past it, under the cabinet, until it turns on. It says wave over the sensor once for low, twice for medium and three times for high light output, but with one wave of your hand it goes from high to low and you have to continue waving till you get it just right. It has a magnet which sticks on to the bottom of your wall cabinet, and then the magnet holds the light disc (puck style) in place. Or I should say supposed to keep it in place. It does not stay up.The adhesive for the magnet does not hold and the light falls down. The first of three dropped off after about 2 weeks and the rest eventually dropped off as well, all within the first month after I installed them. There are no holes to screw the magnetic disc in place so you would have to get some other adhesive to make sure it sticks. I did not go to the trouble because I did not like the light output or the difficulty it took to get them turned on correctly each time anyway.
I am amending my earlier review of this product and will search for another “do-it-yourself” under cabinet light product that I like and give you a link for where you can get them, once I find one I like. Sorry for the bad advice. It seemed like such a good idea…… I will not recommend products in the future until I have tried them myself from now on.
Please come back often to get more product reviews (of products my customers or myself have actually tried) as well as more kitchen design tips and ideas.
